ਮੁਕਤਾ:- ਮੁਕਤੇ ਦਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਸਾਈਨ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ। ਜਿਹੜੇ ਅੱਖਰ ਨੂੰ ਾ  ਿ ੀ  ੁ  ੂ ੇ  ੈ  ੋ  ੌ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਲਗ ਨ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਹ ਅੱਖਰ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਹੈ ਜੀ। ਮੁਕਤਾ ਲਘੂ ਭਾਵ ਛੋਟੀ ਲਗ ਹੈ, ਮੁਕਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਛੋਟੀ ਲਗ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਸੰਕੋਚ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਬੋਲਣਾ। ਮੁਕਤਾ ਬੋਲਣ ਸਮੇਂ, ਮੂੰਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਅੱਡਣਾ, ਨਾ ਹੀ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿੰਗਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ। ਮੁਕਤਾ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਲਗਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਾਵਧਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬੋਲੋ।

1. Muktaa: Muktaa does not have any symbol associated with it. Any letter that is devoid of any vowels, such as kaⁿnaa (ਾ) sehaaree (ਿ) behaaree (ੀ) auⁿkarr  (ੁ) dulaiⁿkar  (ੂ) laaⁿ  (ੇ ) dulaaⁿ  (ੈ) horraa  (ੋ ) kanaurraa (ੌ ), is a muktaa letter. Muktaa is to be uttered for a shorter time duration (laghoo). When speaking muktaa, do not open your mouth downwards or sideways. Muktaa has the hardest pronunciation amongst all other lags, which is why one should pay special attention when pronouncing it.  

ੳ ੲ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਦੇ, ਇਨੑਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲਗ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਹੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ। ਮੁਕਤੇ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਾਖਰ ਅੱਧਕ (ੱ), ਟਿੱਪੀ (ੰ) ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਅ ਸ ਹ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਗੇ ੜਾੜੇ ਤੱਕ, ਤੇਤੀ ਅੱਖਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਬੋਲ ਕੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਕਹਾਉ, ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਕਹੌਣ ਨਾਲ, ਮੁਕਤਾ ਲਗ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਖਰ ਪੱਕ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਬੱਚਾ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਬੋਲਦਿਆਂ ਤੇਤੀ ਅੱਖਰ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਲਿਖਣ।

ੳ ੲ do not have muktaa associated with them – they always have one of the other nine lags attached to them. The lagaakhars tteppee (ੰ) and Adhak (ੱ) are used with muktaa. From ਅ ਸ ਹ to ੜਾੜੇ, say the 33 letters as muktaa and make your children repeat them again and again. By doing so, the muktaa vowel and the letters will come naturally. While saying muktaa, a child should write the 33 letters again and again.

ਅੰ ਸੰ ਹੰ। ਕੰ ਖੰ ਗੰ ਘੰ ਙੰ। ਚੰ ਛੰ ਜੰ ਝੰ ਞੰ। ਟੰ ਠੰ ਡੰ ਢੰ ਣੰ। ਤੰ ਥੰ ਦੰ ਧੰ ਨੰ। ਪੰ ਫੰ ਬੰ ਭੰ ਮੰ। ਯੰ ਰੰ ਲੰ ਵੰ ੜੰ।

 ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖੌਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਅੱਖਰ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਲਗ ਦਿਖਾ ਕੇ, ਇਕੱਲੀ ਇਕੱਲੀ ਲਗ ਅਪਣੇ ਮਗਰ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਬੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਨਿਸਚਾ ਕਰਾਉ ਜੀ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਰਾਰਾ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਰ, ਬਬਾ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਬ, ਦੋਵੇਂ ਅੱਖਰ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਰੱਬ।

Break a word into its individual letters and associated lags, and have your children repeat after you again and again to perfect the vowel pronunciation. For example, ਰ muktaa ra and ਬ muktaa ba joined together make the word ਰੱਬ rab. Remember to use a relatively shorter duration when saying muktaa.

 ਜਹ ਨੂੰ ਜੈਹ ਜਾਂ ਜਹਿ ਗ਼ਲਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਣਾ। ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਣਪਾ. ਲਖ ਹੋਹਿ; (ਸਹਸ) ਨੂੰ ਸੈਹਸ ਜਾਂ ਸਹਿਸ ਗ਼ਲਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਣਾ, ਸਹਸ ਤਿੰਨੇ ਅੱਖਰ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਬੋਲੋ। ਸਾਹ, ਸੱਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਨਾ ਹੈ, ਕੰਨੇ (ਾ) ਦੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਹਾਹਾ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਹੈ। ਸੱਸੇ ਦਾ ਕੰਨਾ ਲੰਮਾ ਬੋਲ ਕੇ, ਹਾਹਾ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਬੋਲੋ, ਹਾਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੌਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਜੀ।

Do not incorrectly pronounce jah as jai-ha or ja-he. sahas seaannpaa. lakh hohe; do not incorrectly pronounce sa-has as sai-has or sa-hes. Sa-has has 3 letters that are muktaa. Saah has a kaⁿnaa (ਾ) attached to it, on the right side the ਹ is a muktaa. Prolong the sound of the kaⁿnaa (ਾ) and say ਹ muktaa; one should not put a kaⁿnaa (ਾ) on the ਹ.
