ਕਨੌੜਾ:- ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਸਾਈਨ ਬ੍ਰੈਕਟ ’ਚ ਹੈ (ੌ) ਕਨੌੜਾ ਦੀਰਘ ਭਾਵ ਵੱਡੀ ਲਗ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ, ਲੰਬਾ ਲੌਂਗ ਪੂਰਾ ਚਾੜੑ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਬੋਲਣਾ। ੳ ੲ ਨੂੰ ਕਨੌੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ, ਅੱਗੇ ਔ ਸੌ ਹੌ ੜਾੜੇ ਤੱਕ, ਤੇਤੀ ਅੱਖਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਨੌੜਾ ਲਾ ਕੇ, ਬੱਚੇ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਅਪਣੇ ਮਗਰ ਕਨੌੜਾ ਕਹਾਉ। ਬੱਚੇ ਜੀ ਕਨੌੜਾ ਲਗ ਬੋਲਦਿਆਂ, ੩੩ ਅੱਖਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਨੌੜਾ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਲਿਖਣ। ਕਨੌੜੇ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਾਖਰ ਬਿੰਦੀ (ਂ) ਵਰਤੀਦੀ ਹੈ।
Kanaurraa: The sign of kanaurraa is in the brackets (ੌ). It is a deeragh lag so when pronouncing it, fully prolong the sound it creates. ੳ and ੲ never have kanaurraa attached to them. From ਔ ਸੌ ਹੌ until ੜਾੜੇ, pronounce the 33 letters with kanaurraa and make your children repeat them again and again. While repeating, children should add kanaurraa to the 33 letters and write them again and again. The lagaakhar bendee (ਂ) is used with kanaurraa.

ਮੁਹੌ. ਕਿ ਬੋਲਣੁ ਬੋਲੀਐ; ਜਿਤੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ॥ (ਮੁਹੌ) ਮੰਮੇ ਔਂਕੜ ਸੰਕੋਚ ਕੇ, ਹਾਹੇ ਦਾ ਕਨੌੜਾ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਨਾਲ ਚਾੜੑ ਕੇ ਬੋਲੋ। ਇਕ ਦੂ ਜੀਭੌ. ਲਖ ਹੋਹਿ; ਲਖ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਲਖ ਵੀਸ॥ (ਜੀਭੌ) ਜੱਜੇ ਬਿਹਾਰੀ ਦੀਰਘ ਉਚਾਰ ਕੇ, ਭੱਬੇ ਦਾ ਕਨੌੜਾ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਨਾਲ ਚਾੜੑ ਕੇ ਬੋਲੋ, ਚਾੜੑ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੌਂਹ ਸੱਸੇ ਦੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਹਾਹਾ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਹੈ, ਸੱਸੇ ਦਾ ਕਨੌੜਾ ਦੀਰਘ ਭਾਵ ਲੰਮਾ ਲੌਂਗ ਬੋਲ ਕੇ, ਹਾਹਾ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਲਘੂ ਸੰਕੋਚ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਬੋਲੋ, ਹਾਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਹਾਰੀ ਨ ਲੱਗੇ। ਸੌਂਹਿ ਸੱਸੇ ਦੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਹਾਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਹਾਰੀ ਹੈ, ਸੱਸੇ ਦਾ ਕਨੌੜਾ ਦੀਰਘ ਭਾਵ ਲੰਮਾ ਬੋਲ ਕੇ, ਹਾਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਹਾਰੀ ਲਘੂ ਸੰਕੋਚ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਬੋਲੋ। ਸੌਹੁ ਸੱਸੇ ਦੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਹਾਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਔਂਕੜ ਹੈ, ਸੱਸੇ ਦਾ ਕਨੌੜਾ ਦੀਰਘ ਭਾਵ ਲੰਮਾ ਬੋਲ ਕੇ, ਹਾਹੇ ਦਾ ਔਂਕੜ ਛੋਟੀ ਲਗ ਸੰਕੋਚ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਬੋਲੋ।
Saun-ha to the right of the ਸ is a ਹ muktaa, say the kanaurraa (ੌ) on the ਸ with a long duration, say the ਹ muktaa with a short duration. Do not put a sehaaree (ਿ) on the ਹ. Saun-he to the right of ਸ is a ਹ sehaaree (ਿ). Say the kanaurraa (ੌ) on the ਸ with a longer duration and say the ਹ sehaaree (ਿ) with a short duration. Sau-hu to the right of the ਸ is a ਹ aunkarr (ੁ). Say the kanaurraa (ੌ) on the ਸ with a longer duration and say the ਹ aunkarr (ੁ) with a short duration.
